Today was the first "real" day of DEVCON, and everyone was excited. The sessions got started, but the real thrill was the exposition. Just about every major vendor in the world of 4D was present and accounted for: Datacraft, Footprints, Natural Intelligence, Foresight Technology, and many others were there. Surprisingly, Motorola had a splashy display of their UNIX servers right in front. Although only open from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today, tomorrow the vendor booths will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hold on to your wallets!
Yesterday's rumor turned out to be true: attendees received a CD-ROM containing their very own personal copy of 4D for Windows, beta edition. After the grand opening, but before lunch, everyone raced out of the conference room and stood in long lines to present their conference badges to the ACI attendants to recieve their disc. Life is good.
We asked attendees for their best gossip and rumors, and where they thought 4th Dimension would be this time next year. Here are today's responses.
ACIUS will make a bid to buy Microsoft some time this year.

The ACIUS marketing department all quit in June of this year.
