Conference wrap-up notes

Our closing remarks are ready; we would be very interested in what you think of them. As well, some of the pages have been corrected, notably Domi's closing remarks and Bruce Finch's second-day closing remarks.

Hello to all the French 4D Developers; we hope your DEVCON is as wonderful as ours was in the United States!

The notes from the closing session with Marylène Delbourg-Delphis, Laurent Ribardiere, and Dominique Hermsdorff are ready, and so is the final batch of pictures.

Conference
Day Three:

Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1996

We are currently digesting the very last bits of information from the conference including quite a few pictures and last Q&A session with Marylène Delbourg-Delphis and Laurent Ribardiere; these will be up this evening. For now, we have converted all the graphics to the smaller JPEG format for our less bandwith-endowed colleages. Also, we learned to our collective chagrin that our server had been running OpenTransport 1.0 -- Doh! We have upgraded this, and hopefully our server will be up and running all the time, instead of most of the time.

We have some notes from the 4Dv6 Debugger Class, as taught by ACI US Engineer Jim Staples and Laurent Esnault, member of the 4Dv6 Dream Team.

We have some more notes , this time from the 4Dv6 Trigger Class which is also taught by Dominique Hermsdorff.

We have some notes from the 4Dv6 Stored Procedures Class as taught by Dominique Hermsdorff.

We have some more notes from the second session standing-room only 4Dv6 New Features class with Walt Nelson, Gordon Muirhead, and François Marchal.

We have some notes from the standing-room only 4Dv6 New Features class with Walt Nelson and François Marchal. (They are somewhat stream-of-conscioussness.)

Be sure to check out the previous days' pages, especially for the picture of Hope Venus with John Travolta.

There was a problem with the web server late last night and early this morning. As a result we arrived at DEVCON after Heidi Roizen's keynote address. We hope to have a better summary later.

Prior Days' Pages:

We have pages for the prior days:

Kudos:

Special thanks go to:

  • Karen Green, my sweetie-heart, who helped in too many ways to list in one web page.
  • Larry Hagood, for the use of the Apple QuickTake 150 to take the photos, for setting up the domain name with meer.net, for the feedback, and everything else.
  • Peter "Doc" Bickford, who turned me on to Claris Home Page.
  • Mike Ginsburg of MDG Computer Services and Web Server 4D, for the license to run this site. Web Server 4D is way cool!
  • Metricom, for making wireless net surfing a reality (in Silicon Valley, at least).
  • Steve Antonakes and John Steele of Foresight Technology, for sharing their room's electrical power with me on Saturday night.
  • Thorsten Lemke for making GraphicConverter, without which we simply wouldn't have been able to do much of anything graphical on an 8 megabyte 1-bit-screen PowerBook 170
  • All the Lonely Geeks and Russian Ladies.
